Clutches....
Well after hearing the horror stories about ACT lately, I am starting to get gun shy with the set up I have. Looking into getting a new clutch kit. What is everyone running? I am looking into Spec clutches and Clutchmasters. Any suggestions?
Here are a couple I am looking into:

Spec:

Clutch masters:

What kind of torque output? The typical N/A VE soon going into the 200SX?
JWT PP and B15 disc from Greg V.

you guys might think i'm nuts but i'm running this $95 shipped clutch on my VE and it is awesome so far. Have over 1k miles on it and 1 adjustment, pedal feels great, and its grabs awesome.

Nothing has changed IMO in the past 4 years.
The image was not meant to be a knock at you or this thread. It's more a knock at the reliable options we have available to us, which are few, and not suited to everyone. Until that changes, these threads will just be a fact of life around here.

And the only thing I see ever changing (if people would stop accepting shitty substitutes) is that we might get something streetable for the 275-325 WTQ crowd. That's never going to happen as long as people refuse to demand it though, and instead cheap out and go for the crappy/cheap/unreliable/unstreetable solutions.

Those people 4 years ago recommending ACT were on crack. ACT has always been horrible for us. They aren't special though. Every clutch maker for these cars has produced less-than-stellar options with similar failure rates. ACT, Spec, Exedy, etc. The exception to that rule is Clutchmasters (and other kits specifically cobbled together for our cars from known durable options like JWT's kits).
FYI the B15 OEM disc is a Valeo disc made to Nissan specs.

This right here:

Clutch Kit Bundle, 2.0, Stage 3, Stg 3 : JWT Pressure plate with 2k SE disc, t/o bearing and clips,

Been in my NA DE (w/bolt-ons) Classic for four (4) years (IIRC, Ben runs the same one). Absolutely love it. It will also hold just fine when I upgrade to a VE (w/bolt-ons, cams, tuning, 200'ish whp or so).

ACT is lame, cracks around the springs, yada, yada. Never again.
