Yes you need to file the rings and fit them to the specs, should have come in with the pistons

It depends on the bore. The gaps are a function of ttotal bore.

Street / high performance

Top ring- bore x. 0045/.005
Second ring- bore x .005/.006

of course if your going to spray you'll need to gap a bit larger.

Personally I think there spec for the top is good but second ring should be atleast .003-4 larger to bleed off some of the pressure that gets by the first ring..

Every single set of rings that ive gotten from cp have been within specs as far as ring gaps go. For turbo and nitrous you want your rings a little looser and they give you that in the specs. Every set ive ever gotten and checked has fallen within specs as long as your block is bored to the correct size and bored to give you the proper p2w clearance which also varies dependant on application. If you follow their application guide for p2w clearances the rings I would bet money on will fall within the right specs for each given application. Turbo p2w clearances are usually a little more which would also increase your ring gap while n/a uses a tighter p2w clearance which will close your ring gap. Pretty simple stuff. If you have a good machinist that can bore the block properly you wont have to do any filing at all. At least I havent.
