They have gaskets on water pumps? Grey Stuff RTV is what I used on mine. No leaks, just over a year of DD and no problems.

when I bought the N1 pump, it did indeed come with a gasket. OEM Nissan. I tossed it aside and stuck with grey RTV, no leaks yet.

maybe if you install it 100% perfect like the engineers did when they hand assembled them in Japan the gasket works better....

Gaskets do come on alot of the newer VVL and RR motors. The gasket works very well. For me it does not mater gasket or RTV.

Maybe the gasket does not work so well because I am in America.

How can one gasket that seals, seal better than another that is sealing???

Just like Miko said, it doesn't matter.

See there you go; if an expert installs the gasket it works fine....

if you are a bit ham-handed it may not seal.

I'm just saying technique usually has a lot to do with assembly. even something simple as a wp.

for the record I use some grey RTV and if I'm lucky I do it with a tube of mckanicka or nissan factory schmoo.

All the vvl's I've worked on have came with metal gasket oem from japan when i pick them up from importer you can use metal gasket if your water pump has no grooves like the de ones.
