Thread: just found out VVL is not working on stock p11 ECU???

Okay when I got the car I thought the VVL were kickin in...

a p11 ECU and harness was used on this engine...

and so today I was told by the guy who owned the shop that the VVL are not activated, i say wth??

I never noticed that becasue when I have changed from 2 inch to 3 inch exhaust and headers I could hear a pop at 6200rpm...

so is it true VVL would not kick in using a p11 ECU? I guess I am missing the basics

here is a video at 2nd gear on light pedal press so, and i could hear some change in engine sound at around 5 and 6200..

the guys says its just the fuel map....

You need a window switch. Only menu boards Ecu turn on vvl or a stock ve board. So no u have no vvl right now

Sounds like it's kicking in to me. If you have the JDM ECU and harness it's possible it could be working.

He said p11 Ecu though.

VVL definitely kicks in you can really hear it at 6k rpm. Now OEM ecu switches exhaust and intake cams separately thus it's not as loud/smoother.



Primera came in P11 flavors too .

Look at his cluster, it says CVT. He is has a stock P11 which came with the SR20VE stock.

These motors come in the P11 in Japan.

I have a b14,then a 99 SR20ve was wapped, it came with the VE ECU and VE harness...and the motor casme from the jdm p11 primera right?

my gauge cluster is from a jdm p11 primera as well fitted to the b14..

..the VVL looks like it kicks in at 6200 but now I was told it does not

Yes...soI am using a JDM p11 VE ecu,,

in oem computers if you have no speed sensor reading to the ecu, not on, or if the vehicle is very cold still, does not trigger

now im more confused if its running or not...how do I check if it runs? I can always hear a pop at 6200rpm every gear
