sr20ve and egr valve?
ok correct me if i am wrong but the sr20ve does not come with a egr valve correct? with that being said i have a sr20 ecu out of a 96 ser with the nistune board (on a 98 200sx with sr20ve motor) and throwing code for egr valve, how can i get around this code? i dont have emissions for a while but would like to take care of this issue sooner than later, was told possibly resistors? ideas facts thanks

more than likely its for the egr temp sensor. if you can get ahold of the temp sensor you should be able to plug it into the harness and should keep the code from coming on. If its the code for the egr solenoid circuit malfunction (something along those lines) then you need to get a solenoid and plug it into the harness. That should take care of the code.

from a junk yard. Find out which code its exactly for as there are a couple codes for egr.

Or post up a wanted ad on here and im sure someone will have one laying around on an old motor.

the resistor mod works better. You can search on here for that as well. I had the same issue on my P10 even with the EGR temp sensor and solenoid plugged in. And I remembered that I had a resistor in my B14 for a couple years that never threw a code. I threw the same resistor in the P10 and haven't had any issues since. FYI I'm running Nistune and VE's in both my P10 and B14 (both OBD2).

nice thanks, whats a resistor mod? modification im assuming? i have some 470ohm 1/4 watt resistors will those work or are you talking about something else?

Do a search here on the forum. It's either a 68K or 100K resistor IIRC. Instead of using the temp sensor, you will stick each end of the resistor into the plug. Also, make sure you plug and run the solenoid with the appropriate vacuum lines. There are diagrams in the FSM and also I have a couple diagrams posted here or on the old sr20forum.com that show how to hook up the solenoid if you're not running EGR. It's pretty simple.
