i would not be revving to 6-7k on small lobes.. just sayin..

not sure how or if the high lobes could come on without power tho..

I really don't have a clue how the vvl actually works to be honest, but maybe if there was something wrong with the solenoid an it sticks open or gets forced open it lets the oil pressure through an the vvl activates. Again I'm not sure if that's possible, but its a thought.

wow I already forgot about this link on the other forum, i even had a post there...)it was those years where we were dreamingof these VEs imported to the country...)

now im confused, the solenoids activates the VVL but its oil pressure...
so
the slolenoids activates the VVL but oil pressure locks the rocker arm??

Using a JWT VE ECU and MSD 8969. The exhaust cam sounds like it kicks in around 4k-ish and then stays off until around 6k. Sometimes everything works OK. Strange thing is that this happens with or without the cam solenoids connected. Sounds like the intake cam only kicks in when it is supposed to and stays on consistently but the exhaust cam (sounds) like it kicks in and out all over the place, even with no solenoid activation. But sometimes it all works spot on and spins the wheels lose when VVL kicks in.

It's driving me bonkers, if it wasn't my only daily driver I'd already have it torn apart. It defies the VVL convention. The exhaust lobe should not activate without the solenoid opening and pressurizing the galley and pushing the pin out that locks the rocker. How on earth could it be doing this by itself?

New solenoids too, BTW. The only thing I can rationally think of is something else sounds like the exhaust lobe kicking in but is in fact something else. Quick surge options?

was i not clear enough?

i would NOT rev over 6k on the LOW lobes.
