Not always the case.

I have had 2 heads with the same problem. Brought different caps to the machine shop and they checked out within spec with another set of caps. No line boring needed.

If you don't want the head I will buy it.

backstory, the previous owner of the head put it aside due lack of funding... i took it from him without noticing there was no cam caps... if he doesnt find them ill just have to give it back to him... no sweat

Even if you find the caps, you still must mate them to the correct journals.

They are numbered and the intake side of the caps are labeled "I".

Would be next to impossible to mix them up..

Now how do you interpret the numbers on the cam caps?

Here are my exhaust ones...

All of the circles show where the sequence number is located. Look close enough on the #1 exhaust and you will see "1".

Arrow always points to the front cover..

Again, impossible to mix up.

^^Quick question. Does the numbering also exist on the SR20de/Sr20DET?

Nope, but usually you can kinda tell where the caps go if they are little dirty, just scribe them with a screw driver before you take them off.
