Lynch posted that to give you and idea of all of the different setups on this forum. As you will see short-ram intakes are preferred for the VE as dyno's, for most guys, have shown they make better power than they CAI's. Your best bet is to do a short ram or WAI intake with the filter in the engine bay off to the side but build an aluminum box to keep it seperate from the rest of the heated engine components. You can feed cold air into this box through the bottom from the wheel-well area. Want to keep it colder? Use powder-coated paint on the intake pipe! 3" piping is best, these motors love air! A 3" CAI will sound nice if you want to stay CAI.
Look through the pics in the thread Lynch linked, it will give you a lot of great ideas as there are ALOT of them in that thread!!
There really is a ton of info. on this stuff out there. Best bet to search is to use Google. I find it works better than the forum search engine mostly.
