Thread: Mfactory Final Drive Failure?

A few weeks ago i heard a knocking coming from my gearbox area. First Taught was a cv, But checked and was ok, So mechanic recommended we drop the box For a look as it didnt sound good, Open the Drain PLug, only to be greeted with chunks of metal Falling out! So Fast Focus took apart MY Gearbox and this is what we found

This is a genuine Mfactory 4.78 Final drive with just under 6100Kms on it, Fitted by a professional!

Some are saying its a clearence issue Blaming Installer?
But with 4 others fitted in the country with no Problems and alot more Kms, alot Belive Bad Quality,










What is odd is that everything else is in perfect nick, Diff looks spot on, as are all the gears?

What are your opinions? Im absolutely Sickend over the whole lot, only thing is thankfully my gears and diff are ok

Not good man, they seem to be really hit and miss with their products...

there are 600hp cars running their gears with no issue but then there are 200hp ones breaking them ... I would say a fault in the manufacturing process...

what were you doing when they broke?

When They Broke, literally pulled into my bros drive, Parkewd it up for 5min and when i went to move the car that noise arrived , passed it off as a cv so left the car parked up, then checked cv and that wasnt it, so mechanic dropped the box for me, and n15... opened it for me

It has had a very handy life since being fitted, most the 6000kms were going to work
