what do think of this gauge setup?
i just got one for free.99. But it is only for 0-5 bar i.e. 80 psi.
It's an old vdub gauge, same as vdo cockpit style.

question: can i still use it? in the chriscar write-up he uses one but i know the ve has higher presure than the de.

Any help is appreciated.

the needle will be buried most of the time with that gauge on a VE.

plan is:
vdo factory porcshe 10 bar oil pressure http://www.sr20-forum.com/679208-post8.html
vdo sender w/ oil light for stock dummy light 360 025 http://egauges.com/vdo_indS.asp?Sender=150PSI_10Bar&PN=360-025
factory vdub vdo oil temp 150 cels (300 degrees)
factory vdub/vdo oil temp guage sender http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audi-Seat-Volkswagen-Volvo-Temperature-Sender-32110-/290610036900?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CommercialVehicleParts_SM&hash=item43a9b540a4

gonna do the chriscar setup on the pan for temp, and the mcmastercarr adapter http://www.sr20-forum.com/general-sr20/50333-f-y-i-bspt-adapter.html#post668105 for oil pressure.

I'll be running this setup on my track car with an oil cooler. Did the research, you're golden. I'm assuming your senders are 1/8 NPT threads to fit your sandwich plate. What brand plate did you go with?

McMaster-Carr

which one of these adpters would be better? steel or stainless? interestingly enough stainless is cheaper. I will use either one with a vdo 2 pole gauge sender screwed into it into the oil sensor boss on the oil filter housing so i want it to be strong.

should i use the cels gauge for water temp instead of oil temp?

just got my bspt fitting in. I ended up getting the stainless steel one. now just gotta get the 2 pole sender and wire all this up.

and the nut i needed to secure the vw oil temp sender to the oil pan.

this is what the setup looks like this pic has the old 8 bar guage in it though.

Any thoughts on the sender having a nut to secure it to the pan everyone else uses epoxy with a piece of threaded bar stock. I'm basically doing the same but with a nut as the bar stock and the aluminun washer (seal) that came with the sender as the epoxy to seal it.

should i put a'lil locktite on the threads of the nut to make sure it doesn't back off?
