We took our time to make sure everything was good. Tensioner was broken. So were the timing chain guides. Ummm found a shim in the oil pan that I lost along with bits of the rocker arm that snapped last week. Lol. Thankfully everything seems good. I'm just letting the silicone cure and gunna clean everything up. Should be running asap.

You had a shattered rocker and a missing shim and didn't drop the pan immediately to clean it up? What if the shim had got lodged in an oil galley and starved a portion of the motor of oil? Would have been bad news...

Take risks. Usually on the rocker where it fell off they would lodge into a valley. Well everything is out now. Inspected everything and all seems to be 100%. I'll be busy working till next week so I'll probably have it running on Monday. We'll see how it goes!

Oh wow, that sucks, thats an aftermarket flywheel yea? is it possiable the bolts were too long and bottomed out? Friend had this happen a few weeks back with a supra flywheel, thought it was the multi place clutch rattling. His didn't come right off though, just broke 2 bolts.

I doubt it. I had that flywheel on a couple setups and spun it to 9K everyday on my first VE motor. I'll be using a stock flywheel and crank pulley now. I just want the motor to last and be reliable especially when I'll be spinning it to 9-9.5K.

Discuss.

By the looks of the pic the flywheel has been loose for a while. There must have been some noises coming there for a while before the shit hit the fan.
My guess is that the bolts were too long for the application. Normally when the bolts are not torqued down properly, they will work their way out and the flywheel will start to rattle to the extend that it would be undriveable.

Glad to hear u got it back together. Both our luck suck and funny how we both have the same thing happen to us like the rockers and now the flywheel.

Lol all part of the game. I don't expect things to last too long when we spin these motors so high. I enjoy the fuck out of it but I also try to prevent bad things from happening. It could of been running last night but this gives me a chance to let everything dry up and clean up other odds and ends.
