SR16VE Transmission synchros interchange
Long story short, my clutch cable broke in the middle of traffic so I tried to forced in second to get myself out of harms way, now it grinds shifting above 3000rpms.
Well I got a good g20 non lsd tranny laying around, im debeting wether to swap my final drive with lsd on the ped leg tranny or swap the 2nd gear synchro on the sr16.
What you guys think it will be better or easier to do?

I forgot to mention it is mated now to turbo motor so longer gears will suit better.

I don't think the 'guts' can go between lsd and non-lsd trannies. Josh was saying this to me iirc...

what he said, main gear shaft is mated to specific crown wheel and ya need the lsd, synchros are all the same so just do them

Ah ok if it geta too hard to do, I could always use just the sr16 FD on the non lsd right?

Nope not the same. They have different bolts patterns at least.

crown wheel and pinion are specific (mainly the crown wheel, different bolt pattern) to the LSD/non-LSD. You can't interchange it. The rest of the gearset will interchange though so you'd have to press the pinion shaft from the gears..

Just swap the syncro over would be best idea.

If you ever snap a cable again. stop the car to a dead stop, put it in gear, and start it off the starter motor, at least you won't mess up the internals of the box. I've float-shifted my way home before when i snapped a cable, wasn't pretty for a few shifts, but worked well.

Float shifted?? How you do that?

Well what I ended up doing was traded for a regular good b14 one with a local guy he's
going all motor VE and Im tired of changing clutches trannies. He will be doing all the work though.

The reason the cable snapped was ACT Xtreme PP that I got from a forum member that got it from another forum member, its old and has cruchy pedal feel. Going back to JWT PP with a 6 puck.

float shift?

he is saying "clutchless shifting" if you rev match the engine to the gear speed you can shift easily without using the clutch. ive driven my car with broken cables doing this before too. if you dont match the rpms prepare for terrible grinding lol.
