Summer build
Hello guys

After a bunch of searching on forums i still don't have the answer my questions so here they are. I just bought N1, valve spring and retainer, cam gears and the Zex wet kit. I plan to run a 50 shot on my ve. I am taking my head off to do the valve spring and i wanna put a thinner head gasket, should i or keep it factory thickness. If not what should i go with Thickness wise, i called cosmetic and they make a 0.035" thick gasket, should i use that and what would my compression ratio be if i do.
I wanna keep it a small motor build noting crazy, due to that fact i am a student, i will be replacing the head bolt with Apr head bolts.

Thanks the first one and know the second, what should i put my cam gear setting to or do that at the dyno

thanks guys

cheers

You really would have to play with the cam timing on a dyno to get the best gains. You can raise compression a little bit, but you should put down over 200whp just with a good flowing setup and stock n1 cams. Bumping the compression will help quite a bit though. You can have the head shaved a little bit to raise compression, but if you are doing that then you should just buy higher cr pistons or something so you can have valve reliefs big enough to allow the big lift cams.

and don't be a sissy, go for 100 shot wet haha.

i agree, you definitly need to dial in the cam timing to get the best results and the only real way to do that is to dyno it and adjust, dyno it and adjust till you are spot on

Bump for my boy Rob!

I have a direct port Nitrous kit and I have always wondered about the compression ratio being unsafe. A bottle fed VE.....sounds good to me.
