He has N1s, there is enough of a difference to him on the low cam that if he wanted more top end he would have put them in by now. He still has that option down the road. For driveability the stock VE cams are still a great setup if all out power is not a priority.

Im not here to take a shot at the VE guys lol

But i have a VE swapped 200sx I daily drive. I thought it ws going to be quick but IMO its not at all quick nor fast. I did a quick pull against my friend who has a single cam civic that went 16.5 and i won by .5 cars lol.

I understand they can be quick with money but my setup is.

SSAC header 2.5
2.5 cat back with cat and res.
Stock intake
MSD Window switch
Stock MAF
Clutch masters 6 puck
Prothanes
a suspension
Walbro255

It does get great gas mileage. But the car has the toughest time starting in the morning like its brutal. After that its smooth.

I like the VE but I was just expecting more than i got. I know with a tune and a n60 maf the car should be a lot faster.

Anyone selling a used B14 computer tuned for this lol

Let's use numbers and compare the two cams, the standard SR20VE cams and SR16VE N1 cams. Numbers do not have feelings or get caffiene highs or have bad days.

SR20VE
Low lift/low duration intake: 8.4mm/220 degrees
Low lift/low duration exhaust: 6.6mm/244 degrees
High lift/high duration intake: 10.7mm/264 degrees
High lift/high duration exhaust: 10.34/268 degrees

SR16VE N1
Low lift/low duration intake: 8.4mm/220 degrees (same as 20VE)
Low lift/low duration exhaust: 7.95/244 degrees (a little bit larger than 20VE)
High lift/high duration intake: 12mm/288 degrees (much larger than 20VE)
High lift/high duration exhaust: 11.9mm/288 degrees (much larger than 20VE)

What ECU are you running?

If you are only pulling a single cam by half a car then your car has some huge issues.

I would say that is a little quick Cory. A VE with only intake and exhaust is more like 14.5-14.7 car in a full trim car and that is driven well.

Now add a header and some SR16 or N1 cams then you are talking high to mid 13 second passes all day.

This is on street tires BTW.

old guy in a daily driver
I love my VE with N1s and a/c. I drive it daily! After installing the dynomax VT, 3" is NOTHING! I'm a freak about being able to hear the person sitting next to me, and drone, and I love driving this thing daily. I make sales calls all day everyday, and it makes getting to each sales call that much more fun! I'm sure someday I'll get tired of it and want something more comfortable, but it hasn't happened yet, I'm 42 and this is my third b13, woooooooooooooo!

Yeah I'm talking slicks. A 14.5 on street tires should be high 13s on slicks
