Yeah you might be OK with the 2.5 exhaust, but if you plan on later ON fitting N1 or bigger cams, go 3 inch so you dont have to change piping twice. While its true that maybe 2.5 and 3 inch will be a few horses apart or maybe even zero difference in power, 3 inch will not hurt power either, just your ears.

time to revive an old topic.

The car went back on the road fully last week. and passed it mandatory mot so that was some good news.

We are looking to upgrade the ECU chip, we are going to have Nistune installed, and after research and excellent communication, we are going to have Steve at FCtuning to fit and map the engine, he seems a lot more thorough on the dyno than the last tuner and by looking at his impressive results on his site i am confident wer will be happier. Not just that we are going to look to install a set of N1 cams. and perhaps a 2.5" exhaust.

The issue with the current tune is how the engine feels above 4k rpm, the engine feels jerky (kangarooish) but only slight. To get max power it needs full throttle slammed to the floor....i feel it should generate max power on at least 3/4 quarter throttle.

Looking at previous Dyno's, i reckon it is SR16VE cams in the engine. it doesnt drop the power off till around 7400, as it looks like SR20VE cams start to drop off at around 6700. I canty see SR20VE cams easily rev to 8300 RPM like the current tune allows.

N1 cams will give better power band, and i reckon 8500 RPM could be achieved.

Any other thoughts and recommendations welcomed.
