just a band aid. did you clearance the bearings when you put them in? If not there is your problem. When the engine is cold the bearing clearance is tight. When the motor warms up your clearance expands causing the noise. Heavier weight oil band aids the problem.

i did clearance the bearings before i put the motor together with plastigauge.. i can't remember what they spec'd at but they were all within range.

otherwise, the engine drives great, runs smooth.. no noises, the power is perfect and it revs just as fast as it always has..
then again i haven't taken it over 4k yet, since i'm still breaking it in...

I just installed VE into my NX, and I also have a ticking noise, seems like it's coming from the top of the engine, could it be valves? I only run it for about 20 min idling, should I worry about it?
My last DE (RIP) didn't make as much noise eventhough it had a rod knock.

Let me know.

I suspect it's either a valve leash noise or chain (pretty normal for Sr20's I think) or it might be an exhaust leak.

Adjust the valves per nissan's recommendation. I know honda's will be loud as hell till you adjust them. Usually the engine has to be at operating temperature to do this properly. Try it and see what happens.
