i would say that if you are in the dyno before leaving i think theres no problem on giving a last ride with open exhaust and see whats hidden the if theres nothing then attach it back, but if it squeeze some 3 to 5 whp is a good gain. I don't think that just opening the exhaust if you don't know if it gain something, but in the dyno you can know whats hidden.

Well loss of torque? Well I just had a flange put on today so I can remove the exhaust next week when I go to the track. While the guy was welding up the exhaust I took it off the stand and went to test it. To my surprise I am getting a whole of wheel spin when launching. I have launch control.

So I really dont know about the loss of torque, even tho I was anticipating the car moving off lousy.

It felt strong up top as well

Best time last couple and months was 14.1 The open exhaust will be the only modification so lets see.

I have a 4-2-1 header and I will open it at the end of downpipe. From the choke point to where I will open is about 26"

Well lets see what she does on the track as I dont plan to dyno it.

Peace

I don't see how you would lose torque.

The engine should respond better everywhere.

I'd much rather have a before and after track run, than a before and after dyno that is months apart for sure. Good luck at the track.

why dont you get a e cut out.....from your headers to the cutout..use another MSD window switch to open the cutout, only when/with the cams....then just use a 2'' pipe when the cutout is closed so its quiet...but fukcing rowdt when the cams change....might cost more but would be cool...

or theres the boost/vaccum cutout.....

I don't know if it adds power, but it sounds so good when VVL cracks.

This is true and I know of someone that should chime in here. With proper tuning and a electronic cutout he picked some power up with it open. His exhaust was a SSAC that went to a 2.25-2.5 inch Stromburg so if he had a 3 inch he might of not made more power. Cutout was right before the cat.

I can get away with open exhaust where i live as we have no emissions restrictions and the cops really dont car. Hell with open header my car was still not as loud as some of the annoying hondas running around. I dont get how they are soo loud.

Anyways here is a vid of my stock cam sr20ve with short ram intake, ssac 2 1/2" header running open and Calum basic fine tuned, and greg v crank pulley.

here is one you can really hear the crossover
