Thread: Who knows about maxima's?

I ran a Maxima at the strip tonight, thing got the jump on me because i spun in first, after I was in 2nd we were dead even through the traps.

It looked like an older style Maxima with a fart can. Is it possible a stock Maxima can keep up with a ve?

Interested to know anything about them.

when you say older style, approximately what year? Maxima's have had decent power and torque since 94 (SE model) with the VQ30 motor.

Well it was either a third or fourth gen. Even so don't the vq's make about 190crank stock?

Why do you assume the Maxima was stock? If he made the same amount of mods you done to yours then voila..

Your VE is not stock, is it? You sure have some pullies, N1s and what not... (yes N1s are stock cams but not on a 2.0L motor)

Dont underestimate family cars period I walked away from a buddy of mine in his 200SE-R VE in my 2003 Altima SE my car traps 95mph with me in (300lbs) and rolling out of the hole at the strip there are several Maxima's out there running high 13's with just boltons... don't let the hp rating fool you, they have a lot more torque than our VE's.

What was your 1/8th and 1/4 mile et and mph?

I doubt it. Me and a friend walked on one on the highway, ahem I mean track. It was like a 00-04 (Idk what the years to the generations on maximas are but this is my best guess) and it had headers, an intake, and a few other bolt ons. After he was like "I just saw some sentras with HIDs so I thought I'd play with you guys."

My car was on a 2" exhaust and I couldn't hit more than 5 psi on my t25 and the ve had n1's. We both smoked him.

I've driven a lot of maximas. The ones with the vq35 are slick. I doubt the guy was stock.I imagine a header and exhaust would open a vq35 up a lot. I've heard of them getting a lot from just a cai.

there are a few NA maxima's in the 12's so yes they are quick
