What about ordering gears from the N1 tranny?

Third, fourth and fifth is what a 1600 n1 needs badly imo.

Can we source the part no for the tranny and then order gears for it?

We can have the gears made for a reasonable price if we get a few people together.

Nobody cares if Nismo does not make them anymore.

I have a company that will make every gear in the SR20 tranny and make FDs.

The costly gears are 1st and 2nd.

The cheaper gears are 3rd, 4th and 5th.

So what ratios are you thinking? I assume you lot in the states would like a higher FD?

I think anyone with 1600 would prefer the n1 ratios..... putting the n1 third into a standard vz-r box is probably to close between 2nd and third though huh? Possibly slightly taller on the third to match it in nicer.

I need to look at a calulator to see what rpms those actually end up at.

Well I just got a mail from MFactory.

For a minimum order of 10 Units they will produce any Final Drive ratio for the VSLD boxes that we want. Price is $550 incl free shipping! I think we need to agree on a good FD ratio and set up a group buy.

Sorry to hi-jack this post like this - perhaps we should make a new posting?

Anyways, my vote is 5.0 for the FD.

just changing the FD is not a cure but more of a problem for 95 % of the people.

I will agree that if you are just building a drag box and you will be only using slicks then no problem or if you are building a road race box where first gear is being used just once to move off and then you will be in second to fifth you will be good.

Ditto. Wouldn't a higher final drive just give us more traction problems?

My Maxima Tranny has MUCH longer gears and I still have a nearly useless 1st and 2nd, LOL:
2002 Maxima tranny:
F/D: 3.81
1st 3.153 ---> 12.013
2nd 1.944 ---> 7.407
3rd 1.392 ---> 5.304
4th 1.055 ---> 4.020
5th 0.809 ---> 3.082
6th 0.630 ---> 2.400

Yes there is. We manufacture straight cut 5.0 FD for NON-LSD gearbox.

The only trouble is for US people, that we are located in Europe, so the shipping price is the issue. And US dollar exhange rate against EURO in not good for the moment. So it's more expensive than 4.785 made by MFactory.

But anyhow, here in Europe, for hard core SR20 users this 5.0 is in the one and only option.

We have long history with production and know how for racing transmissions. This 5.0 Nissan SR20 final drive have been in production maybe about 10 years. There are many - many sets in use for European track day and rally cars.

Please see this thread: http://www.sr20-forum.com/naturally-aspirated/16321-fs-5-0-final-drive-sr20.html

If some more information is needed, please feel free to contact me via PM.

BTW, our transmission have been used also in car which won Russian 2WD rally champion title in 2009 and also 3rd place in IRC (Intercontinental Rally Challenge) 2WD CUP with Honda Civic. And of course this 5.0 FD is used also in my own SR20VE powered rally car.
