Ok, so your saying I don't need aftermarket springs if I wanna rev to say 8800 on spray with N1's??? If so thats all I wanted to hear....oh what about cam gears? Will I need them or just forget them?

BTW my ecu will be tuned properly and I'll also be using 110 octane so my VE will be staying in one piece.......well unless I get crazy......NOT i love this motor/car combo soooooooo much just want a little more power preferably up top where he car likes to be anyway!


totaled200ser why do you say I need a new header?? From what I ahve seen in most dyno's the VE really likes the ssac

I need rest now I just took off my my whole solenoid set-up and cleaned the hell out of it and it was DIRTY to say the least......zzzzzzz

I personally would run stock sr20ve springs and retainers and rev to 9k all day. Still have yet to see a ve fail from revving to 9k, and this is a daily thing. The stock sr20ve springs are stiffer than the n1's. spend the money on a better header and tune the car. Then when the intake is the bottleneck in the system, then you will need to either have one made or do it yourself. You want to get some quicker times with your car, keep the
sr16ve cams with some shaved sr16 pistons. Run a 75 wet shot. That should get you close to where you need to be if it is tuned correctly for alot less money. Once you reach the limit of the ssac look for a asp budget, a gen 6 or an old aebs. Obvioulsy there are beter 4to1 options, but then the cost will rise. The ssac header is a great bang for the buck header, but it will become a restriction around 200 whp give or take.


Dude my ecu is tuned better then 99% of the people on here, so that wont be a problem for me. I already am running a N60 maf and a complete 3" intake with a BPI 6" velocity stack, so are you getting it yet??? As for my mods I will not waste my money on a budget header that I personally saw put out less hp then a ssac at a dyno session, so there goes yet another one of your theories As for a 4 to 1 , yeah fine, custom intake? yeah fine?

Listen I know what I am doing and will spray my sr16's first and then move on to the n1's I just wanted to see what others thought thats all, not smart azz imature comments form some internet loser.

Oh and the "whole double rocker arm stopper thing" is getting kinda old you AZZ!

And btw I never said I know it all??? "HE" must not have read my post because I was asking about N1 cams and stock springs, not a bunch of stuff I already have plenty of experience with. Understand?

You have been on the other forum for a while and the last 3 months of your posting have all been newbness ignorance wanting an answer without looking in the archives. Stay on topic. I agree that a lot of this stuff is in the archives, and a search could have revealed the answers. But I also know that some of this stuff can be a couple years old, and a fresh perspective and more experience may warrant asking the question again.

OK,I must get the last word because I have a little OCD, soooooo here it goes.......

I do apologize to the board members, mods and the other 2 guys that really just wanted to I guess bust my nads and be sarcastic and really not help a brother out, hence my immature rebuttals, but I must say I was looking for a few simple answers that of course have been asked and answered tons of times and there are also a crap load of threads too , but if you really think about it, so have 99% of what people ask and post.

Now IMHO the whole boosting, nitrous, or any other type of forced induction on a sr20VE is really not done much especially on a stock bottom and stock head for that matter, so thats why I asked. It seems like lately more and more people are going with VE's in there sr powered vehicles and now the force feed (stock bottomend) ve's are becoming more commonplace. I mean this is the becoming a tread I am seeing and i am sure most will agree???

So back to the origin of the post throw in N1 cams that will probably see about 8800rpm pretty regularly, which I learned from THIS thread w/o springs/retainers, a fully bolted VE with a damn ssac header with the 2.5" dp, I have no need to change btw UNLESS I can afford that beautiful reverse megaphone 4-1 1K+ header. And I WILL eventually buy it when i start spraying over a 50 shot, which is when the ssac will be a HUGE choking point and removed....I believe and have read seen that my current set-up has no need for any upgrades except N1's, a re-tune for them and the nitrous. Thats what started all this b.s in the place. I might not be a guru on the VE like some others on here, but I again from what I see people having sucess with my set-up is pretty solid to about 200whp at which point the only real thing to upgrade would be a 4-1 header??? Am I wrong?

Last thing I want to add. I will post every step of my progress whether some people want to see or not, but I think most will like to see how I and others( I am currently watching qwkse-r ) doing the same thing do at the track and dyno. I will also go to the track with my crappy header (after a quick re-tune) and see how she does and will keep going after every upgrade to see how low she goes. My goal is to keep her from blowing up(DUH), but still run a low 12(sub 12.3) on the bottle. Hopefully even lower.....

I guess I took enough of everybodies life

But thanks to all the helpful post, you guys rock and keep me into this awesome and sometimes frustrating hobby

Now that is an appropriate, but long winded response. 8800 rpms is pushing it with stock springs and retainers. Most will say 8300 rpms is the ultimate safe max rpm for stock s&r's , but the Aussies have been purportedly revving to 9krpm for a few years. 190whp -210 whp is your range that your stuck at without nitrous/forced induction or a better intake manifold and header. The ssac choke point is midrange at the 190-200whp point. Above that it is a bottleneck everywhere. So skip to it! Welcome.
