Check out posts #8-11 from this thread:

Basically, watch your MSS RPM display to see if the numbers jump around when you are falling off the high cams. If you see this behavior, you might be pulling your RPM signal from an unreliable source, or it could be your digital tach.

I read that how to configure the MSS mant times and actually find it easy now, but I will definitely keep and eye on it when i am going past the VVL activation and see how it acts....I am really starting to think its that digital tach causing the issue...I will check all wiring tomorrow morning when I get back from the shore!

Its the two solenoids that are right beside each other that sit right behind the distributor. If you look closely, there are a bunch of 10mm screws that hold on the housing. I took off those and carefully removed it making sure to not crack or ruin the gasket inbetween the head and the solenoids.

One I took it off I also removed the actual solenoids from the housing. They may be easier to crack loose while its still mounted to the motor. I then used carb clean and sprayed out any gunk, debris, oil, etc. One I was done they valleys inside looked polished clean and I just gave it all some time to dry. Reassemble and plug up the wires again. Go make noise.

Also clean the galleys going to the solenoids on the housing. There is a screen there that needs to be cleaned out, you unscrew it with an allen wrench

Well on the ride home I was looking at the MSS and it didn't go in and out and stayed steady???? So maybe it isn't the signal? I really am betting those solenoids are dirty as hell and need some cleaning, but I am still going to try separating the digital tach and the MSS just to rule that out.

This is really starting to bother me

The car is dying to pull up top but instead goes in and out...

My journey doesn't seem long??? You should have seen what it took me to get a actual running VE..........This WILL be figured out tomorrow! I will check every possible source listed in this thread and then some until I find whats doing this. Like I said I have come to far to have a dumb issue like this to hold me back.

I have tons of plans for this car and motor. The list includes s/r's(8K is getting boring), some different cams, definitely a decent shot of juice, maybe a large turbo and engine build. There is also plans for some auto-crossing after I get the timeslip I am looking for. The list goes on and on.........First things first though and thats this VVL activation problem!

Again guys thanks for all the suggestions and help It is appreciated more then you can imagine. This board is priceless

ya man i just mean that some problems are harder to tackel then others, sometimes it takes a while to find the culprit. you should make a video when you get it fixed
