You're good with the SR16 pistons and N1 cams, also pretty safe running the cam timing most are running with the N1.

Running the stock valve springs with the N1 up to 8,500 rpm is debatable. I'm on the conservative side. The upgraded valves springs will save your engine on the accidental over rev(9,000rpm and above). $150 for the valve springs is cheaper than a new engine.

Yes you can upgrade only the springs. That's what I run, same for my friends.

I'm not picky about brands, they(Franklin,Kelford,Supertech,BC) all seem to do a good job. There's a thread that has more info on the different brands. For me, what ever works.

I had a couple of questions for you guys again.
1. Will I make more power with stock cams and cam gears intead of upgrading to sr16 cams?

2. If I were to use sr16 cams would I have to adjust anything in the head? Or Is the the sr16 cam a strait drop in with nothing needing to be done. The reason I ask this is because we installed some high lift cams in my friends B20 vtech it started up fine idled and drove fine but as soon as it hit the crossover the camshafts each broke into 4 sections. Could you tell me why that happend as well?

DE/VE or just the VE? If you have the stock cams & cam gears my guess is no, you won't make more, you MAY make as much as the SR16 cams. SR16 cams are a straight drop in in the VE head. Can't say much about your friend's B20 but may have been a number of things from improper installation to non factory ground billets that may have inferior castings to valve clearance tolerances on the high lobes that may have been too close to the pistons. Hard to say. May not have been any of the above but I'll assume your friend has some experience in installing cams.

You can drop them in no problem. I gained almost ten whp from them...

Your friend did not check his piston to valve clearence.. the low cam was ok but once the high cam came on he hit valves on the piston and the cam broke. Think about it. The valve touches the piston and the rocker will not stop moving. The cam keeps spinning and the force snaps it....

Another question for you guys. Can the stock ve bottom end handle a 100 shot of nitrous? or is this a area where the hybrid de/ve combo takes over in toughness?

Yes, with a good tune and lower timing it will be just fine.
