My setup is 333 inj, DE dizzy & maf with a 93 DE ECU. So I should cut my timing to 20* and I should run 91 octane right? Reason is this morining I was on a hill, a wall was close by i was going about 15-20mph and had it in second gear. I heard some pinging but its goes away when I get pass 2.5k Rpms.

I also ran my ve with a de ecu for quite a while and just advanced base timing to like 23*, ran pretty damn good for the most part, other than I had a switch I had to hold in my hand with the shifter to activate vvl ahha

We run ve ecu around here and do not bother with anything else like dizzys, injectors, mafs etc.

my set up is ve maf, distributor, 333cc inj. the car feels less powerful than before with the ve ecu. I think it's running rich(er).

Richer with ve ecu, ve inj, ve maf, ve dizzy?
Ve wiring loom?
Same vvl activation points?
Correct base timing?

ve loom
using a MSS to switch vvl 4500in 4700ex.
did not alter base timing.
kinda a newb but how is base timing adjusted is this by the distributor?

Sorry, I misread.
With de ecu it is reacher because ecu thinks that it has smaller injectors.
I would stuck with ve ecu.

i'm tryin to source/(get repaired my) ve ecu.
if a direct short is placed across the terminals where the fuel pump relay jacks in what kind of damage would this do to an ecu? I am going on the assumption that the ecu switches on the fuel pump relay (most likely via transistor switching)?

Nope sorry, It will only run a li’l richer as your DE ecu will compensate as it learns from the richer condition. But once you are at WOT, you have the greatest risk of running lean. That may explain why some people feel the car stronger with the DE ecu, as they are comparing WOT passes at a leaner conditions.

Sorry but this is not true.
