IF you dont have an engine leveler then you wont be able to go from the top with the trans and drivers axle connected. If you do, then its as easy as pie. Maybe you should try it it BlueRB240...or it might be over your head.

The time it's going to take you cranking back and forth on leveler I'll have the motor out and the new one ready to go. If you like to fight it out keep going from the top, only thing I put to the top is the engine harness.

I've got to admit, they both have their own both pro's and cons. Even though its in the garage, I've been convinced to try thru the bottom. Have to see if there is and clearance issues.

Now..... will the 2 side mounts support it if I take off the rear and dogbone first??? Or does it need to be supported by the hoist while taking the mounts and cross member off????

I always hook up the hoist while unbolting the mounts. makes it easy to take the load off the front and rear mounts.

It will want to rock backward. It would probably be OK, but I take out the center part of my strut tower brace and use a ratcheting strap under the intake manifold and over to the strut tower plates to support it. That works pretty well for me.

hook up the hoist to the motor and take the tension off by jacking it up a little. Then unbolt passenger mounts 3 bolts, then the driver side I just take out the long bolt to the trans mount. Then unbolt the 4 bolts holding the xmember, don't forget to get the axles out of the hub and leave them in the trans. Then just bring her to the ground, unhook the hoist and move it out of the way. I use 2 jacks and bring the car just high enough for me to slide the motor out on the xmember. then I just lower the car back onto the jack stands.

Yeah, you don't have to go as high if you use cardboard or something instead of the dolly. He also used blocks to keep his jackstands functional which is a nice touch for safety.

I should probably note, I don't get under the car at all when I do that.

Unless your from the south, then b4 going underneath it, he says " hey ya'll watch this!!

I finally got the motor dropped Since the front end is damaged, thinking about wrapping some 3/8" chain around where the bumper mounts and send it to the sky!!!!!!!!
BUT, how much did the car move to the side, since the hoist is going pull it in that direction when it raises up???
