i wasn't going to post either just like ben. But since there is a lot of post's i will. Remember that i come from the rwd world so things are a little different. When my mate lets me thrash his fwd civic, bouncing limiter just isnt as much fun as doing it in my rwd 180.

With That info in mind just about everyone i have seen run a "go fast bits" lightened pulley has had problem. But these are different to the g spec ones, and we sit on limiter all day, and i am not talking about just hitting limiter in 1st, i am talking about continuously bouncing it off limiter through long corners while drifting.

However people on here have run them with great success, and most people on this site rave about them.

Interesting. Thanks for the replies. I don't mind a little premature wear. If I can get 20k very hard miles out of the motor I'd be happy. Just not looking for an epic failure that trashes important parts like the head.

I do drive it pretty hard. Every trip I go on sees about 8500rpm at least once. But usually a bout 5 times. And I'm running the 4cw crank.

how do you know which crank you ve has or if it's the early or late model?

If you have a sr20ve then you have 4cw.
If you have a 20v ve then you have 8cw.
If you have a sr16ve then you have either 4cw or 8cw.

ok. i thought so but i thought i read something about early model and late model making different horse power and having different cranks.

Of all my time spent researching harmonic balancers I've run into myth after myth, and incorrect explanations abound. I always have a hard time finding the one explanation I found that was the best, otherwise I'd link it here. What I found out after all my research was that the harmonic balancer is there to protect from catastrophic crankshaft failure, and crankshaft failure only. The vibrations dampened by the harmonic balancer are not destructive to main or rod bearings, pistons rings, pistons, rods, etc. The vibrations are in the direction of the rotation of the crankshaft, freeing all parts but the crank itself from undergoing any premature wear.

Unless you know of someone who has snapped a crank in half, their engine failure was certainly not due to a lack of harmonic balancer.

There it is. The explanation I remember comes from ATI. Makes sense.
Although, they sell harmonic dampers, so they could be construed as biased.

ive been running a 4crw and gregv pulley since they came out and it hits 8.5-9k pretty much daily... no issues
