stroking an SR16VE
how much more would i have to notch the 1.6 pistons to clear the oil squirters due to the bigger 2.0 stroke?

about 10mm or 3/8 in

You can round it out to 1/2 in to keep it 100% safe

The diffrence from 2L to 1.6L crank is 86 - 69 = 17, 17 / 2 = 8.5

seriously.. one time i called dre and was asking about a setup i was considering. and i got an ear full of optional part numbers, strokes, bores, compression ratios, dyno numbers, 1/4 mile times, and all that. it made me feel like i was a complete n00b.

but thank god for dre man. saved my ass a few times

It will be 13.5 to 1 if you make no mods to the piston.

You can get it close to 12.5 to 1 if you shave 1mm of the top of the piston and make each valve notch 1mm deeper. make sure you have a good machinest.

how much can you take off the top of the piston? looking at them they seem to have a faily high centre could you get away with more than 1mm say 2mm and not bother about the valve notches? or do you need to go 1mm deeper on the notches to prevent the valves hitting?
