There's nothing wrong with your photo damienga15de.
SR16VE should be the same. If it wasn't then someone had intentionally remove it.
Sump and oil pickup are not the same design for all engines.

If that oil pickup is fine then why put in another 2.5 quarts before it even touches the pickup? Pickup is definitely wack. I'd check the rod bearings to make sure the motor isn't already toast.

Wanna make me post photos of brand new sr16ve items? If that it takes, i will.
SR16VE with N1 has no difference down there.

LOL. Its called parallax. The two photos above are taken from totally different angles so you can't tell jack from the first one.

regaurdless on weather its damaged, or just came that way.. havin one that sits a little deeper in the pan wouldnt hurt.. there are many styles to choose from, i got my from greg @ gspec an its definately a quality piece.. longer then my stock one, sits lower an further back in the pan then the stock one also.. i think i have about 5-10 mm before it would contact the pan.. theres also a little reinforcement thing on it too, dont the sr16ve an sr20de highport/lowport share the same oil pan?

over all i think that one is fine now that i see it from this angle, so i dont think u have anything to worry about there..

its the angle the pick up tube is down past the baffle same as last posted pic, now i have more reasons why the 2 sr16ve engines spun bearings. still trying to figure the n1 though it only spun 1 bearing could be bad rebuild or something

again, taking others consideration of it being ok is not ok . The oil pan is already shallow and having the pickup sit so high up is not good if you happen to be a tad low on oil or road racing. If it is not like swiss's picture then that is the issue why you have rod knock. It can directly be attributed to that. I would make sure that when you get a pickup tube it is no more than an inch away from the bottom of the pan especially with a high revving motor.Also, in your picture it looks like two different rtv's were used. The previous owner could have replaced the pan and not fixed the pickup tube.

His pickup tube is perfectly fine. Swiss's pickup tube is a DE pickup tube. The VE pickup tubes are completely different but protrude just as far down into the oil pan. I have the pictures everyone would like to see on my camera right now (just finished putting VE oil pump and pick-up tube on my DE motor).

I am curious about lynchfourtwenty's experience with the pick-up tube from Greg. I told him I didn't need one because my VE oil pump came with one. You're saying the tube you got from Greg mounts deeper into the lower oil pan than what? Than your DE pickup tube? Than your stock VE pickup tube? What?
