SR16ve Tranny with Sr18/20 non lsd gears?
According to a post made by Andreas Miko, a mix of the SR16ve FD with Sr20 tranny gears will give a good driving experience. Can anyone identify this tranny below - It's a non lsd but just want the gears. My sr16ve gear set is broken:

If it will work, what sort of ratios will I be getting?

The non lsd is marked '50J # 1' while the sr16 is 50J # 2

Thanks.

Peace

There is no way you are going to tell what tranny you have like that.

A 94-96 G20T looks just like a 95-97 G20T and they have diffrent gears.

but you were able to say what tranny i had when a guy tried to sell me sr20 for a sr16 - just by the description?

Ok here is a guess.

( Non LSD trans from a 91-92 Infinity G20.)

If this is the case then the gears suck for NA.

Why you ask, 91-92 G20s were Non LSD and had cable speedo. Also the early 91-92 trans had the little breather cap instead of a breather hose that vents the hot air out.

All SERs from 91-97 were LSD and 98-99 were non LSD but had the newer tranny case, so it iliminates them.

So even with the sr16ve final drive it would be a fun tranny?

I know it's non lsd, jut want to know if it's sr18 or sr20 and if sr 20 what sort of ratios it has.

BTW, what can I look at on the tranny to know what cars it could have POSSIBLY come in?

thanks

I have no idea if it is SR18 or SR20.

The only way to tell if there was a motor on it.

The SR20 has 3 diffrent set of gear ratios and FD combinatios for that gear box. 91-93 G20, 94-96 G20 and91-99 SER,

The SR18 as far as I know has one set of gear ratios.

So there is no way to tell.

Thats all I got. So I will not go any further.

Final question:

Will the Sr16ve FD with even the worse ratio of the sr20 be a better box (good acceleration) than the sr18 tranny I now have in?

Thanks

Can't you slip a flywheel onto the tranny, and then count the gear ratios manually by turning the flywheel and selecting the gears by hand?

I'm not 100% sure how it's done, but someone advised me to check the ratios that way once when sifting through SR trannys at a local importer.

I have a gear set from an SR18 you can buy from me. They case was cracked by a friend of mine but the gears are perfect and have roughly 45k on them. PM and let me know.

just a question, is this confirmed? 50j #1 is non-LSD?

i recently got an sr16ve, it has a stock tranny attached to it labeled #1, and im sure its an LSD due to the bulging part of the tranny. can someone help me verify. thanks
