Did you hook up the coolant lines on the throttle body? The VE has a mechanical cold idle valve which is adjustable, this could be your idle issue.

If you feel a power loss with the cams switching, then they're being switched too soon. Move the switchover up until the transition is seamless.

yep two hoses goes to it......on the throttle body....its what makes the rpm drop to regular idle when the motor is warmed up.
