b15 sr16ve
ok so i have just bought a sr16ve for my kedo project

now i have found out its an sr16ve from a b15. Now some people have told me that the b15 16ve ecu has more agressive maps. The n1 obviously does, but i didnt know the 16ve one does. The other thing i heard that was different, is the the b15 16ve ecu is mounted in the engine bay, not the cabin.

anyway i want to put an end to the hearsay does anyone know the differnces between the b15 sr16ve and your average 16ve?

Did some research on the b15 vz-R, as I was thinking it was a second gen of the sr16ve, and found that it's the same as the 16ve that comes in the pulsar, lucino.

If it's more aggressive then it should make more power and it doent. I know the tacch shows 10,000rpm but not sure of the ecu in egine bay etc:

The maps on all SR16VE ecus are the same.
The B15 is different in terms of internal code. We got our hands at one of those ecus and were able to compare it.

The engine is one of the latest vvl before the P12 20V arrival.
You'll be able to recognize it by the code on the block and the ecu part number.

The block itself is not the same as the previous SR16VE ones. In fact it could be called a SR20VE block cause it was used on the previous 20VE vvl engines and the P12 20V as well. T30 VET is using a different block. I'm talking about the plain block.

The water pump is a SR16VE one.
The oil pump was firstly introduced on N15 SR16VE after October 1999 as 13500-6M000 but was upgraded to 13500-6M00A
The service parts remain the same but it's not the same pump (13500-1N501) SR16/20VE use.

Additional information regarding the car can be found here.

The VET uses a W11 DET block and they drill out the hole for the VVL selenoids.

Here in the USA the VE block was used on all RR motors, just missing the hole for the VVL sellenoids.

If I am correct the 98-99 SER Sentra SE also use the VE block minus the hole being drilled out for the VVL.

The 98-99 motors have no oil squirters. Not sure about the RR though, I have one laying around here I just haven't torn apart yet.

The 98-99 motor does not have pil squirters and the RR does not have it either but thats does not mean it is not the same block.

The W11 and the VEt use the same block but the W11 does not have the oil passage drilled out for the VVL head but the spot is there to do it.

Andreas, do you know if the main bearing seats are in any way different between the VET & the W11 DET? Would 19mm mains fit straight into the W11?

(sorry for the o/t)
