Ported N1 intake manifold, *pics* and flow data
So i've done a few of these N1 manifolds, cutting them open and porting them out. I've done probobly 4 by now and each one gets better. You have to weld them up in a few spots to add material and strength before cutting open and porting. I took a few pics of the manifold next to a stock n1 lower runner section as well. This was before i finished "prettying up" the inside of the manifold.

Here is the flow data. (all #'s at 28")

Stock N1 intake manifold flows 275 CFM
Stock VE Cylinder head, flow @ .500" valve lift, with Stock N1 intake setup 226cfm

The ported N1 manifold before welding the plenum on flows 391cfm, after welding it on, they drop to about 375 cfm average on all 4. low of 371, high of 378.

The ported head that I have (done by someone else, not me) flows 280cfm @ .500" lift... With this ported N1 intake manifold bolted on the flow drops from 280cfm to 274-276cfm. Only 4-6 CFM drop which is awesome. A correctly designed intake manifold can actually increase the "total" cylinder head flow if the taper and design are correct.

Anyways, here's some pics... thought i'd share....

This is for a forum member, it is a timely process though and with time is $$

Would it be more cost effective to just have you make us custom ones? Like if we do a group buy or something.

Maybe, I've been working on trying to be able to make a really good intake manifold for not too much $$, meaning something reasonable, and be able to make it fairly quick so it doesnt take weeks....

Looks like the N1 manifold is alot thicker than the standard VE's. Either that or the porting on the flang is giving the illusion that the walls are seriously worked. I've taken one to about 1" before the walls were too thin. Looks like you took awholelot out of the floor too!!

Nice work.

out of interest, do we have IM flow figures for a std sr20ve manifold?

Would be interested in a custom intake manifold, as always if the bang/buck works out nicely.
Its always surprised me that no-one has really done an intake manifold and tried to sell a few of them, i guess we're not like honda owners numbers wise

There is a reason for this.

Most Sentra guys are cheap.

You have to look at the amount of time and money that has to go into making one of these manifolds. Making an intake manifold will require about 2 months of fabrication easy , many hours of instalations and many hours of dyno time

So any good VE intake manifold that will make good HP will cost from $1000-$1400 and will need a 80-100 MM TB.

You ask why.

There are only going to be a solid 20-30 of these things that will be sold. So they have to make their money. Low amounts sold equal higher prices. High numbers sold would cause prices to drop but for that to happen numbers have to be in the 200-300 region.

IPS makes the badest intake manifold ( Dyno Proven ) and they have sold a few of them and these things are about $1400.

Dre,

How are these ports compared to the ports on Manny's N1 manifold you sold him? That manifold now belongs to me and will be going on my new motor.

I ported the N1 intake manifold that Manny had. It is perfect for boost. No need to go to the extreme like the one Charles is doing.

NA manifolds are much more critical to making HP. The serious problems of the N1 manifold have already been fixed by me.

All the N1 manifolds I do, I recommend for Turbo use.

There are a few guys running those intake manifolds thay I ported.

There is Yeneil who is making 480 WHP at 18 PSI. Thats the guys who was racing the Silver Super Charged Mustand from Florida Street Scene.
