I just consulted my friend with the N1 SR16ve tranny and he said that apart from the N1 being hydraulic and the regular 16ve being cable, the gearboxes are the same.

The only other diffrent N1 Tranny is the on used specially for racing.

Peace

N1 gear boxes have shorter gear ratios. I've had my JN15 Pulsar VZR for five years now and the gear box is still in one piece (from 27000kms until now 87000kms). Didn't drive it much before because I had another car. But in the last year I did over 27000kms (over 16000miles).

(Maybe babying it wasn't the way to go......?)

60kph (about 38mph) first, 100kph (60mph) second, 150 kph (about 94mph) third, fourth o.t.c., fifth who knows all the way I don't have a speed cut defender or rsm.

N1 your looking at around 50kph first (about 32mph), and 90kph second (about 56mph), and so forth better especially when you can rev higher in an N1. My VZR only just revs past redline to about 8300rpm.

You can imagine that if you were to have an N1 which has more power, and can rev to.... I think it was 8900rpm (when I saw it on the video) this short gear ratio box would give more torque and earlier VVL time on top of that. Also with the additional high revving, it would cause you to get just as much speed as a longer gear ratio box but when changing gears the next gear will be way more into the higher power band.

So with these figures just give the thing a squirt and you should be able to tell aswell.

N1 is just better all round! (Sorry about the going on and the numbers. I'm from New Zealand)

Sorry dude, but they DON'T.

Unless it's a NISMO box, they are IDENTICAL between the standard VZR and the N1.

I do agree with you on the ratios being IDEAL for a VVL motor. They ROCK!

Mine revs to 8950, it's where I set my rev limit to, using a Daughter Board; standard they are 8,100 - 8,200-ish.

Funny that.... I've heard from a couple of websites with info on each car stating 'specifically' that yes, the VZR is cable whilst the VZR N1 is hydraulic but it also has 'shorter' gear ratios than the VZR. They were also specifically saying that the Autech SR20DE gear box had a shorter gear ratio than the typical VZR aswell. Who to believe...? Thanks for that info anyway because you can never be too sure. There's a lot of bull**** out there and I didn't mean to add to it.

I have paper at work from Autech and their Autech Pulsar had longer gears than any VZ-R. I will upload it at Monday.

Here is what I have seen.

SR16VE and N1 gear box are the same. The only diffrence being. SR16VE is cable and the N1 is hydralic.

I also know that the SR16VE, N1 and ( SR20DE autech might ) share the same gear ratios.

In my opinion the best gear box for SR20VE would be SER gear box with 4.44 FD from SR16VE - N1.

The only time a N1 has shorter gears than a VZR if it is a Nismo model.

Everything below with a MPH is at 8000 RPMs

VZR N1 Nismo Box FD ( 4.44 )

1. 3.200----14.208 = 38 MPH
2. 2.048-----9.093 = 60 MPH
3. 1.500-----6.666 = 89 MPH
4. 1.152-----5.115 = 107 MPH
5. 0.872-----3.872 = 143 MPH

SR16VE and SR16VE N1 gear box FD ( 4.44 )

1. 3.333---14.788 = 37 MPH
2. 1.955----8.674 = 63 MPH
3. 1.333----5.914 = 92 MPH
4. 0.975----4.326 = 122 MPH
5. 0.756----3.354 = 164 MPH

SER Gear Box FD ( 4.18 )

1. 3.063----12.791 = 44 MPH
2. 1.826-----7.625 = 72 MPH
3. 1.286-----5.370 = 98 MPH
4. 0.975-----4.072 = 131 MPH
5. 0.756-----3.157 = 174 MPH

Best Gear Box For The 195-220 HP 2L VE Is SER Gear Box with FD ( 4.44 ) Or Autech Gear Box

1. 3.063----13.599 = 40 MPH
2. 1.826-----8.107 = 66 MPH
3. 1.286-----5.709 = 95 MPH
4. 0.975-----4.329 = 122 MPH
5. 0.756-----3.356 = 164 MPH

If You Could Get A Nismo Box and Put A SER 4.18 FD, It Would Be The Best Gear box Around.

Nismo Gear box with SER 4.18 FD ( Would Kick Every Gear Boxes Ass In The 1/4 Mile ) If Motor Had about 220-230 WHP

1. 3.200----13.376 = 41 MPH
2. 2.048-----8.560 = 64 MPH
3. 1.500-----6.270 = 91 MPH
4. 1.152-----4.815 = 111 MPH
5. 0.872-----3.644 = 154 MPH

SER gear box with 4.44 FD or ( Autech gear box )

1. 3.063----13.599 = 40 MPH
2. 1.826-----8.107 = 66 MPH
3. 1.286-----5.709 = 95 MPH
4. 0.975-----4.329 = 122 MPH
5. 0.756-----3.356 = 164 MPH

Check this stuff out. I wonder if the gears from a Ga16 will work in a SR20DE

USDM GA16DE B13 FWD gearset:
1st: 3.3333
2nd: 1.955
3rd: 1.286
4th: 0.926
5th: 0.733

final drive: 3.895 (Sentra)
final drive: 4.471 (NX1600)

JDM GA16DE FWD gearset:
1st: 3.063
2nd: 1.826
3rd: 1.286
4th: 0.975
5th: 0.810

final drive: 4.167

Notice these gear ratios above are the same as the SR20DE from P10, B13 and SR16VE.

I want to know if the GA16 box and the SR20 gear box parts are interchangable as far as the 1-5 gears go.

I know the boxes are Non LSD so FD will not work but if the gears work we got some very intresting over the counter stuff.

From the outside the SR20 and GA16 boxes look the same minus the bell housing.
