Lets take a look at a typical SR20VE stock cam setup dyno pull.

Fuk yeah rev that shit to 8200 lol. I think you need to calibrate your ear dyno Ashton. Making noise and reving to the moon doesn't = power.

Ashston, I respect you for the Turbo game but I think you are exaggerating about the N1 cam NA rpm capability.

Most motor with N1 normally peak power around 7500 rpm and nose dive right after that. Only motors with custom intake manifold and header peak above 8,000. Maybe one or two VE are able to hold peak power to 9,000 and they are not running N1. All you have to do is look at the VE dyno database on the old sr20forum.

BlueRb240 and I are speaking from experience testing cams and intake manifolds. BlueRB240 has help set up 5 dyno days where we have seen 12 VE equipped cars dynoed and none of them ever peak above 8,000 rpm with just N1 cams.

If you still insist your friend motor made power all the way to 9,000 rpm, please provide a dyno chart and BlueRB240 in return can provide more dyno charts since he has access to this particular dyno jet.

Well you are the exception, but seriously I think you overlook what I said was needed to peak above 8,000rpm and that is a custom header and intake manifold. I believe your motor did peak over 8,000 but you did it with a custom header and custom short intake manifold.

Here's your own dyno chart showing you did not peak over 8,000. Your power held well but not peaking at 8,500.

And your car is still pulling hard as hell at 8200, just wants to keep going, Again can definitely benefit from more revs for sure.

Here was my stock cam VE with no rev limiter. You can hear the pitch/tone of the motor change at about 7800 which is were power takes a nose dive.



Ashton, your ear dyno needs to be recalibrated. It's a little bit optimistic.

Just take at look at all these dyno charts.

Heres a few of my stock cam with hotshot header, 2.5" exhaust and full CAI on a mustang dyno, it was 150hp an 129tq



Blue run is a good while later with the same hotshot header but took the cai off and dialed the car in a bit with nistune.

Red run is when i changed to the ssac header and n1 cams

Green run is the same setup + n1's + 3" exhaust + a little bit of tuning



those numbers are SAE corrected and i really wasn't able to do alot of tuning on the dyno except for the last time. the numbers are kind of inconsistent on that dyno depending on the operator I've noticed so its kind of hard to rely on previous sessions to compare against.

unless you have an aftermarket or custom intake manifold, i dont see a stock sr20ve peaking higher than 7500-8000rpm with n1 cams. with stock cams i see them peaking @ 7000-7200.

kindly show me dyno graphs to prove otherwise

I already stated stock cams peak around 7200 and nosedive badly after 7500. Which is why on my old ve it was pointless to rev past 8k. It was my own fault for not putting a rev limiter on it which in turn later cost me the motor due to a no lift mis shift. But i did intend to put n1's so that was the original intent of no limiter. Oh well.

As for n1's, i dont care what you say all those graphs still prove that revving to at least 8500 maybe even slightly more is best.

I dont know, maybe it was the ported n1 intake manifold and n1 throttle body that helped peters peak higher and hold power better. Either way I know what I saw when i dyno tuned it, I know what happened during a back to back race, I know it was better in my buddies case and in a lot of peoples cases with a decent setup.

The whole goal is to give yourself the highest possible average whp after each shift throughout each gear. Plain and simple. Even if that means shifting a little into after the power nosedives being if the power where you would end up being after a shift is making a lower whp. GET IT?????? If not then I cant help you anymore.

Lol yes that is a chart before I had fixed the header and IM. That is just one chart ofmany andmany more. Search a little harder and you'll find my 218whp graph. Car trapped 108 mph at 2400lbs w driver

I still say guys should get kelfords, an intake manifold, and a real header . They are the truth for these motors. Mine peaks at 9500-9600.

Verdict: Stock cams peak ~7200. N1's with stock IM usually ~7800.N1's with custom IM and proper 4-1 ~8500.
