Guys, what about 20V spring/retainers? How stiff the springs, how light the retainers? I know 20V valves much lighter then 16VE/20VE ones, so anyone know 20V spring pressures?

Knowing 20V cams to be aggressive, I suppose 20V springs must have much pressure then 16VE/20VE. But who knows...

Snickers? Miko?

After taking Charles (snickers) advice , my conclusion seems to be a more conservative-medium approach than what some are doing with the stock springs. Coheed, you quoted snickers on the subject in this same thread with this, but your asking again??

I didn't look back on Snicker's comments. But I remembered he said they were safe to a very high rpm.

I'm not sure, but who really is? Given that sr16 springs and sr20 springs are different in a lot of cases, you never really know what is truly safe. My sr16 springs are lighter than some 20ve springs, and prob cannot handle as high of rpms. I will be investing in springs instead of cams, and will see where that takes me. At least I will be safe no matter what cams I run huh?

The crazy part is i have a basic set up.... I rev my N1's to 9200 Rpm out of 1st...... seems like theres more power and pull to be had and made by tuning..... it doesnt feel strong @ all shifting around 8500.... I can spin a good part of 2nd taking it past 9k....

this is because your putting the car way up higher in the rpm range on the 1-2 shift and more into its peak tq. most n1 cars setup right make peak tq in the 6k-7k rpm area. if your still using a b13 tranny 8500 will drop you around 5k-5.5k and 9k+rpms will be around 6k rpms. you more than likly unless you have a custom intakmanifold and a sweeet 4-1 header make less hp after 8k than you do from 7.2-7.8 your just over coming that with the way 1st is geared.

I wouldn't run 20ve cams higher than 7.5k; however, when I was w 20ve cams, I brought it to 8.5k a few times.
Lent to car to a family member, and it went to 8.5k numerous times.
Still running hard after 2 years.
