1 oz of carbon build up = 10 psi of pressure = 1 horsepower, fo sho.
I've floored it up to about 6.5k a few times, but after I get the clutch broken in, I'll do some consistent redline pulls after I swtich to mobil 1 and see what happens then. I may also try this...Auto-Rx Engine Cleaner But I'm not worried about it too much.

The VE from my SE-R would read 230-240 testing when hot. It had some carbon build up in the head though. It had lived a very unremarkable life before that.

yeah, my VE was spotless in the head when I pulled it off.
And I got those numbers testing the motor cold.

hmmm, I guess it could be right. I made 170whp on a bone stock VE with a 2" exhaust, which is right where it should be I suppose, but my compression results were lower than that. Leakdown showed only 4% so I know that the motor had no compression leaks at all, and rings were still seating perfectly. Perhaps my compression tester is no good...

dry test.

40+ on # 4 cylinder and 95-100 on other 3. LOL.

Car was smoking, hence the need for the compression test. Will pull of head tomorrow.

Peace

Had to bring this back up. Anybody know the lower limit on an SR20ve motor? I figure this info would be in a P11 FSM. I don't have access to one so If anybody knows the Nissan Published lower compression limit please let me know. I've been messaging some of the EBAy vendors regarding Compression numbers. Most of them give me a low number so I disregard the motor. As far as checking compression on an engine. Hot numbers would be higher than cold numbers?

My VE gave 270psi across all four cylinders. I thought that was the norm??

btw this is w/o cams because I know when you add cams the compression always lowers....atleast from my experience.

270psi is with SR16VE pistons right?

Well, N1 or whatever cams shouldnt affect compression since you will be cranking on the low lobes anyway
