Not benson's fault

although mine isn't a daily driver im running much better with the bored vet gasket than i was with the cometic. I have the mazworx gasket and head studs sitting in the closet. waiting for the moment when i take the head off

btw im 90x86

^I like this. Who did you get to bore it?

Respect and Teal97.

Custom design performance in CT has a whole report on the Benson block that was brought to them after it mixed coolant with oil on the first 92x91 running.

That block lasted 600 miles or less.

A new block was sleeved with AEBS sleeves and was driven for 3000+ miles and made 257hp. It was parted out and the block now sits here on the shelf while it gets some "different" internals.

Oh and the front cover was removed and milled and it made no difference. Still mixed coolant.

Sorry yo switch gears but i read how ted said that we cant put cams with higher then 12.7mm lift on intake without modifications, what modifications have to be made?

I would imagine it has to do with the groove in the head that the rocker sits in to keep it in place The groove is only soo deep and id imagine it has its limitations as far as lift goes before it bottoms out in the head.

The groove in the head has nothing to do with limitation of valve lift over 12.7mm.

The first problem is the valve retainer to valve seal clearance then the cam lobe to middle rocker arm clearance. You can get away with the cam lobe to rocker arm contact by having a smaller base circle or shave the rocker arm pivot point. I suspect some of the cam grinders went with the latter route hence the necessity to reshim.

Ahh that makes a lot of sense i wonder what the valve seal to valve retainer clearence is

What could have been, and that number was with a shitty header and a stock intake manifold

my b13 stock sr20det redlines at about 9k i shift at 8.5k with ease.
Ive reduced around 5-600lbs and i cant seem to max 4th gear best i could do with plenty of road is 132mph at a steady 8.3-.5 rpms
im new to the forum and nismo but from my experience sr20 has a great rpm range
id say stick to the 93mm shaft
