If you replace the head, shouldn't you also replace ALL the gaskets around it?
I don't suppose all are reusable.
What happens if you brake a gasket trying to remove a part?
manifolds gaskets for example...
distributor o-ring
soloneids gakset
valve seals? wouldn't be a good chance to replcace them
There is a head gasket kit 11042-5J225 which is cheaper comparing to the full engine gasket kit 10101-5J225.

You have to take the cams out, but can leave the s/r's etc in. Hell, you can even leave the IM on if you like.

Yeah well that was the plan then, leave IM on

one less set of gaskts and since motors are out of the car its not like the IM will be in the road.

so cams out/caps, dizzy, solenoids timing chain tensioner, chain off, then head bolts...

greg has a good write up on it atleast!

Swap sr16ve water pump into 20ve block? its been running and not leaking 20ve one has been sitting for 18months, and alt, PS, AC, mmm that should be the main items.

just the impellor design isnt it?

i.e because it revs higher. would be a good upgrade if it fit into place?

So this might be a stupid question. But is the SR20VE head a strait up bolt on affair when it comes to putting it on a DE or DET block?

Yes it is. You just have to tap the head for the oil feed for the VVL. The head is tapped on the side directly off of the oil feed hole underneath the head. Once tapped the factory feed hole must be threaded and plugged.
