GTi-R Motor
Would a GTi-R bottom end be great for slapping a ve head onto it? I realize the head would have to be drilled out for the larger head studs, but other than that (and drilling for the ve oil supply) the GTi-R bottom end would give a lower compression ratio with the VE head on it and it would be safer for boosting wouldn't it? Just thinking out loud because I may have a GTi-R motor here pretty soon.

there is a thread on the other forum about a guy doing this.

Yea but he never went through with it... IIRC he put the GTi-R internals into a VE block.

I was reading the other forum last night and it said that it fits on with the head bolts but it is a very tight fit. I wonder if it would fit fine with some head studs and nuts?

Well actually after thinking about it, the reason the GTi-R has lower compression is due to the squench area on the head... So the compression would end up being higher than a DET but lower than a stock SR20VE but with a beefier bottom end. It should be a great setup I think...

might as well build the VE
