the hell with that!! you can buy rods and pistons for less than 1K and have a stronger bottom end than that one

I would not go that far, the VET has stronger rods than a GTIR and the pistons are damn good to. I would say the rods might be better than Eagle units

I suspect that in another year or two these engines will be much easier to come by as i suspect there is more of these x-trail gt's produced than many may think. (maybe someone with fast can look?).

I recently happened across a couple of 2007 x-trail gt's these were facelift cars with all the updates of any 2007 x-trail. That gives a production time from 2001-2007 i am yet to find any info on 2008 versions but as these are onto a new line i suspect they may have finally discontiued the VET.

Just putting this out there. I fully expect production numbers of these cars to be around 10,000 or more.

The main problem is because they arent a gtir they are less likely thrashed and are probably less likely to be crashed so less likely to end up being parted out.

Also is that price a joke!? You're halfway to getting a complete working GT for that! They are trying to fleece you lot thats for sure.

Thats the problem on the Nissan forums, most guys are just cheap as hell.

A used SR20VET @ $4000-$4500 is a great price.
