I have a friend who has done a few VE/De hybrids and they turnout very well but, for some reason they do not perform quite like a 100% full out VE does. The difference is not much.


Now you do have a stronger bottom end. It could be alot of fun on boost or even a with a nice nitrous set up.

Manny.. true.. but I did these swaps on RR bottom ends But every motor is different.

I wonder how much of a difference this install and process would be doing a VE head, onto a DE block (non-roller rocker block).
Because it looks like the oil filter is way farther down on that engine then it is on my 99 P11 (which is a non-roller rocker SR20DE motor).

^^ It's the same install. If you want to stick with the stock oil filter placement (up top) you just have to grind the intake manifold flange down a little.

If i use RR block with SR20VE pistons, will be compression same (10.3:1) like in stock VE motor?

nice right up.could i tap into the oil filter adapter like urnpick and run a hose to the turbo.i have a ve with gti-r set up but need to run the hoses..any advise guy's..it would sure help get my car running..its just there in thr garage for 1 1/2 weeks now..
