I've read the same thing, but doing that gets rid of the extra baffling in the RR valve cover, the baffling helps keep the oil from spraying around from the cams, so I'd really rather have this VC....

We didn't check, we just threw another fuel pump in, problem went away, chucked the old pump. The race was on, we had no time to coddle weak parts. ;)

On a side note, checking the fuel pump is pretty easy...supposed to have 0.7 ohms across 2 pins (2&3 iirc) although I've only confirmed a complete failure. ...
