I have only used the oval stuff for side exit systems - never thought of it for a full system thou.

The leak sounds like the input shaft seal.
The noise is most likely one of the bearings - depending on when it is making the noise can identify which bearing is failing.

True - I've had this happen when the ignition switch fails but it also includes not wanting to start.
That looks like a a bad ground. Get the DVOM or Power Probe out and start checking resistance. I would start with the battery - chassi - engine ground first.
What are the spark plugs gaped at ?
Thou check engine light is not on, are there any pending codes ?
Could be a trans lock up issues also
ACT is no better - they tend to strip out the splines on the input shaft - a much more costly repair :(
