Gauges can vary a lot in my experience. My DE+16VE pistons is 220psi on one gauge and 150psi on another.

I'd avoid. Use a good oil and you shouldn't need an additive.

5k miles? That would take me about 10yrs!
Run-in with mineral, change to a semi, then after a few hundred drop in some ester synthetic.
Job done.
