Launch is killing you, I think you are at the point where you need to get some real deal tires. Even a healthy stock VE will obliterate 1st, and drag second. In your case tires are even more import...

The motors i have seen start to loose power after 30-32*. Crazy is when it starts to ping.
Stock compression VE's I have tuned tend to like up to 34 deg with 93 octane or 32 with 91
