As I just said, it's a WIP. It's intended to allow someone to thank a particular post, instead of replying just to say "thanks".

I dislike it. Makes it more cluttered to view.

The icon design is so out of place. :D

I've seen this thanks button on lots of other forums. It's a simple form of recognition. Under your user name on your posts it should say 'has been thanked x times in x posts.'
