Do I have an ECU Problem?
Hello all

I have had a bit of a bad experience with the latest stage of my build. The car has been through a couple of shops for the last 3 years, and it is now close to completion.

The car ran well for a few years with a stock turbo, stock cam BB DET, it has had a mild port and polish done on the head, JWT S4 cams and gears installed, a revamped fuel system consisting of braided steel lines, adjustable regulator, MSD 72#/hr injectors, and a billet rail. A GT2071R turbo on a gti-r manifold and j-pipe, with new intake piping, 300Z TT MAF, a co2 sprayer for the front mount, an old school Greddy Profec B boost controller, and a wideband

The fuel system is perfect, no intake leaks, all the electrical has been re-done (including a new wiring harness). The car starts, and idles rough and lean, it wants to die between 1 and 3k, over 3000rpm it runs lean. JWT is giving the shop the run around, after 2 years of diagnostic help, they want to start over checking every system insisting that the ecu, or the map from JWT cannot be the problem. Any suggestions?

Do you have an exhaust leak pre-wideband that would through off the readings?

If it's the ECU, it sounds like it's programmed for even larger injectors than you have. You sure you're running a GT2071R turbo? With 72 lb./hr. injectors? You extra sure?

Are these injectors high impedance or low impedance? Low impedance would probably fry the JWT ECU, but you never know...

Yes, this could easily be an ECU problem, but it's possible it's a MAF problem, or something else. Sorry for the slow reply btw.

Yea I agree about the maf. You should have that checked or just swap one if your buddies maf in there really quick to see if that fixes it. That's the cheapest way to test if your maf is any good. Hope this helps.

update for you i sent my ecu which i said had a problem to JWT they charged me 48$ and sent it back saying there was nothing wrong with it. well i got my old ecu back from the kid who had it plugged it in and ran fine so either they didnt look at it or dont know what they are doing because the ecu has a problem like i told Ben a month ago. He had me check maf voltage, inj pulse, duty cycle, all kinds of stuff then told me to bring the car to nissan because i must not be doing something right. Bottom line i was right the ecu was bad and they were wrong and didnt want to admitt it, I will never deal with JWT again and Calum will be the go to guy.
