Shagspeed - AEM is intercepting the signals coming from the sensors.
I dont see Euro P11 1997 listed for the MegaSquirt
I am tempted to go standalone. AEM EMS specifically because it is plug and play.

Maybe I have it wrong.I thought the ECU was telling the distributor when to fire ie the distributor is just giving the ECU the signal and the ECU determines when to fire according the position. The distributor does not control when the spark fires, the ECU does.
Am I wrong???
About the ECU Talk. So that is worthless for use with a piggback ECU then correct??
An update.
When it is running properly, timing light is showing 20+ degree advance at idle.
When I get the misfire timing light shows 15 degrees advance at idle.
I think that would make sense. If the ECU pulling timing back by 5-10 degrees at idle I imagine it is doing this everywhere hence the misfire.
I set the base timing back to 15 degrees mechanically and zerod out the timing tables on the AEM. Still the same intermittent problem.
But even when it will pull to the red line, it is dog slow compared to have the mechanical timing set to 25 degrees.
Either the ECU is adjusting the timing to compensate for the base timing/FIC or I need to check the wiring.
Also, I am going to check the MAF signal , it seems the problem does not happen so often when it is cool.
Also, knock sensor. Is it possible the cam engagement is causing more noise than the SR20DE ECU is expecting and that is pulling timing???? I have just changed the Knock Sensor because it was showing a fault code, I thought that my be the issue but sadly not.
I have also tried using an SR20VE distributor and no change. Swapped out the plugs, no change.
if I had to guess I would say for some reason the ECU is pulling the timing on its own at high rpm and full throttle.
You can go part throttle to the redline with no problem, but WOT immediate hesitation. Ill check the MAF signal. No way it should be maxed out though is there on a NA VE????
