truck KA to flat top swap
been wanting to do this swap for a long time and soon will have the ability to do so.

because the ecu between car truck and s13 are so different im going to have to delete the factory ecu and wiring as i dont feel like splicing the ka car harness into my truck harness then splicing it into the sr harness....

i had things narrowed down to 2 ecu units.

haltech sprint 500
Platinum Sprint 500 | Haltech - Engine Management Systems

G4+ platinum
G4Plus Storm - Comprehensive Engine Management ? Link Engine Management Systems - plug-in & wire-in aftermarket ECU's

they both offer a lot of the same features, however we dont have too many dyno tuners locally to me and want ease of tuneability on a dyno and easy to use interface, couple that with my non knowledge about ecus and tuning im stumped....... do i need a aftermarket fuse/relay panel for my fuel pump and ecu? or can i run the factory fuse panel in the truck (since i will be separating the entire chasis harness out of the ecu wiring to keep things simple) can i get away with this and have it function?

the next thing is..... because this is such a extreme swap and conversion all my gauges will be rendered useless upon insertion of all that turbo power..... because of that can i use any gauge i want too? i will definately be doing a custom gauge cluster since the truck speedo only goes to 90 and the factory us 240 and 180 only hit 120 (i think??????) i know i need to run the car KA speed sensor on the tranny to get MPH and not KMH but aside from that can i plug and play any speedo into either ecu? or do i need a CAN speedo or whatever the other one is that autometer proprietarys or do i need to drop 400 bucks on a programable pod speedo?

the next problem i have is temp sensors......... does anybody know the ohms of the resistance at low and high range for the water temp and oil temp so i may order the proper oil/water temp gauges.

does the SR have a oil pressure sensor? i figure it would since its a tt engine but cant remember off the top of my head.....

is there anything else i will need to know before endeavoring this swap?

keeping in mind im not looking to boost at 25psi and have a strip truck, this will be a semi sensible daily driver i can play with on a track or at drift events..... and you best bet your arse ittl be built as a show car cause whats the point of driving the snot out of it without it looking pretty going this deep into a build like this.

im thinking probably 15psi max on a good street tune will be more then sufficient for my needs. like 250hp or so..... i know thats well within limitations of this engine since they can handle about 400hp on a factory block, not that imma push it there but ittl do it or so im told.

so whats the most sensible way to go about this whole swap? just wire everything in myself? make a custom harness and add some modules to the haltech or wire into the factory fuse panel and try to splice into the factory harness.....

as for gauges any suggestions and parts that im going to need..... im attempting to not go into this totally blind and have a plan of attack (swaps going on 7 years now in my head FYI in case people are wondering)

also i want to appologise for my all over nature.... i have a lot of info in my head swimming and its hard to stay on track when i have so many un answered questions

i prolly shouldnt be drunk when i do this stuff next time.

my question is, can i tie into the existing fuse panel with either of the 2 above listed ecu's and be ok?

what are my options for getting gauges for this swap because im going to have to build a custom gauge cluster for the dash, most importantly whats the best route for getting a speedo hooked up

the last thing is, is there anything else i need like a wideband or a CAN module for this swap?

there thats better, i will try to not post when im sloshed next time.

thanks

or is there another better option for ecu choices under 1500 bucks?
