yes what ever you can do with the aem you can do with the haltech, the only reason i went with AEM over haltech is because i suffer from sentraitis, (My complete AEM set up cost me a lot less than a haltech set up) and thats only because you can find more things for the aem used. Also another reason is because i tune my car my self and people post more information about their tune,set up ect with aem over haltech. Other than that quality wise haltech is better.

If I ever spend the big bucks on a standalone I think I would try the AEM Infinity.

I doubt you will find a better coil than the LQ9 heatsink coils. Not for the money anyway. Somewhere on megasquirt's site they actually did a test on the LQ9 and LS coils. I have a much better spark with the 4x D585's than my old MSD 6AL with single blaster HVC.

Another thing you will have to consider is setting up your dwell time for the coils in your standalone. AEM EMS4 natively supports LS1 LS2 LQ9 coils.

I know you didn't list it as an option but nismotronic should be on your list. If cop ignition is a must you can use a rwd sr20det ecu converted to nismotronic and have four coil drivers for cop or custom remote coils. If you are not well versed in ecu tuning and wiring I would think twice about aem(for the self tuner). Aem has almost no tech support for fwd sr20 cars and is far more tricky to setup with cop for the first time tuner. I have not used haltech because I can't see spending more on an ecu then the car is worth. Good luck.

Oh and micro tech is a huge pita I have used it on two cars and both times is kept burning out coils no matter what we did. Both Nissan sr20 and Toyota 2jz..... Run for the hills...

micro tech is a pain in the ass, it was my first stand alone, and everything you need to do you have to send it back to australia. i wasnt a big fan of it, i had to get rid of it because the injector drivers were shot.

Duly noted. I kinda wanted to go with a system that tuners around these parts are more familiar with. I guess the MicroTech system is really some sorcery

When you really think about it it, this system is mostly used by the Aussie guys.
