Rich AFRs with electronic load?
I've battled idle issues for 5 years. This passed weekend I finally sorted out why she NEVER idled with a cold motor, only once warmed up to temp. Idle AFRs have always been jumpy when warm, generally hovering around 14.6 where they should but randomly drop to mid-13's...and then back up. So over the weekend I figured all would be well, I was wrong.

AFRs still do as just described but once warm and driving, when I stick the clutch, idle drops to around 1,000. It then bounces up around 1,500, back down to 1,000, and will hover there for sometimes seconds, sometimes minutes, before finally resting at 800 where the tune is set. Doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for the idle. I know the RPMs naturally hover before settling but this strikes me as odd.

The whole time this is happening the AFRs are all over the place, assumably the o2 is struggling to do it's job. Whether the AFRs are mid-13's or mid-14's, electronic signals will fatten the AFRs. At a red light with my foot on the brake, AFRs dropped. They jump back up when I release the brake. To the extreme I had my foot on the brake, radiator fan was going, radio on, and I turned on the defroster full blast....AFRs dropped as low as 11.9! With each electronic signal I watched AFRs drop a little more. Why?

Is this mechanical or tune? My tune is a little rich to begin with.
I can produce video if y'all would like....or maybe I'll just go do that while this posts.

Thanks

EDIT: I'm running Calum RealTime, b13, t25, 555's, s4's, fidanza, z32 MAF, srt-4 FMIC

I never know to where to post these types of issues. I feel it's applicable here, the tech section, and also the turbo section. Mods can move if they feel it be better off elsewhere.

Thanks

Do you have a view into your battery voltage while the car is running? I know the injectors like 14.0v and if you're wildy above or below that, it may affect the performance of the injectors I'm guessing. Would be one thing to check.

I do when I plug in the laptop and monitor the goings on. Good idea, thanks for the suggestion.

I don't know that I've posted about this before. I had/have a 3 year old thread concerning my idle particularly. Iirc it's in the boost section, just posted yesterday so it should be current. I do believe you posted in that thread too. There was a resolution, go scope ;-)

It's so weird! And him and I have different setups completely. Although I do have a uego AND I do have an amp to power one 12" sub. I don't always play music though cause I prefer the sound of spool and open dump WG :-D
I've always wanted to reground, just because. Maybe I'll try that after I take some voltage readings.

I'm thinking If it were voltage related though wouldn't it lean out instead of richen up?
My theory with that is if power is draining, that would hinder the injectors as well causing them to flow less. No?

I had the same problem for months until I ground my wideband on the intake manifold.

Hmmm

Actually with the bump my head is thinking again. I haven't really taken notice of this phenomenon much, also haven't been drivng my car too much for one reason or another. However, since posting this I did replace the alternator which crapped out. Maybe all is well now? I'll have to investigate tonight.
